During Pregnancy
The 40 weeks of pregnancy are divided into three stages viz, first trimester pregnancy, second trimester pregnancy and third trimester pregnancy. The first trimester includes weeks 1 to 12, the second section includes weeks 13 to 26 and the last trimester stretches form week 27 to the day of delivery, which is approximately around week 40. The maximum a pregnancy period could stretch is week 42.
The first way measures pregnancy from the first day of your last menstrual period. The second way to calculate which week of pregnancy you are in will measure from the time that you were ovulating.
Many things can affect the fetus developmentally in these first few weeks of pregnancy so it’s imperative that at the first sign of pregnancy a woman see her doctor to begin a healthy regimen; after all, a healthy diet contributes to a healthy baby.

Pregnancy Week 4 (first trimester of pregnancy) – Mother’s Period is Late. Your baby is an embryo consisting of two layers of cells from which all her organs and body parts will develop.
Pregnancy Week 12 (first trimester of pregnancy) – Lanugo Appears on Baby’s Body. By now your baby is about 3 inches long and weighs nearly an ounce. Her tiny, unique fingerprints are now in place.
Pregnancy Week 16 (second trimester of pregnancy )- Your baby is now about 5 inches long and weighs 5 ounces. His skeleton is starting to harden from rubbery cartilage to bone.
Pregnancy Week 24 (second trimester of pregnancy )- Your baby weighs about a pound and a half. His wrinkled skin is starting to smooth out as he puts on baby fat.
Pregnancy Week 28 (the last trimester of pregnancy )- your baby weighs about 3 pounds and is more than 15 inches long. She can open and close her eyes and follow a light.
Pregnancy Week 36 (the last trimester of pregnancy )- The average baby is more than 19 inches long and weighs nearly 7 pounds now, but babies vary widely in size at this stage
